We Won’t Be Beaten on Price

On July 1, 2022, EPA Victoria increased the municipal waste landfill levy by nearly 20%. This is part of a longer-term plan to bring Victoria’s levy in line with other states such as NSW, and to make the viability of recycling and alternative recovery methods more financially attractive than landfill.

Not all of the waste that Trailer Trash handles ends up in landfill, however the landfill levy is directly passed on by its suppliers, as it is to other waste companies in Melbourne. This big jump in cost, which came into effect today, is on top of extremely high fuel prices, and inflation rates that we haven’t seen in Australia for many years.

Despite all of these challenges, Trailer Trash has continued its commitment to delivering a cost effective solution to its customers. By focusing on process efficiencies, and ensuring the business continues to run as lean as possible without impacting on customer service, it has been able to reduce its own price increases to around 10%.

“We know that everyone needs a price increase like a hole in the head at the moment,” said Ben Mitchell, Trailer Trash’s General Manager. “And although we had to increase our price to cover the waste levy price increase, we’ve been able to do so at a much lower rate than our competitors. While we’ve seen other companies increase their price by $50 or more, we’ve been able to keep our prices lower. For example, our most common option, the 4m3 bin, has only gone up by $30 for most customers. This just goes to prove our commitment to delivering a cheap and effective option, and that we won’t be beaten on mobile skip bin prices.”

Trailer Trash provides a mobile skip bin hire service in the Melbourne metropolitan area. Its customers love the lockable bins on wheels that can get in to tricky places other bins can’t, which don’t damage driveways pavements, and which are delivered on time and with a smile. In simple terms, they deliver the bin, you fill it, and they take it away – it’s trash made easy.
